Hello, and welcome to the very first episode of Business Underdog, the podcast where we bring you inspiring stories for the aspiring entrepreneur. I'm your host, Eric Riemer, and I'm genuinely thrilled to have you join us on this exciting new journey. As someone who has navigated the challenging and rewarding path of entrepreneurship, I understand both the highs and lows that come with building something from ground up. This podcast is dedicated to sharing real stories from entrepreneurs who face adversity head on and emerge stronger than ever. We will talk to real people about real challenges, not the person who started the next unicorn tech company, but the people who started a plumbing company, a therapy practice, a salon. Their challenges and obstacles are just as real, if not more so, than a heavily funded VC backed universe. So what can you expect from business underdog? Each episode will dive into the journeys of innovative thinkers and disruptors, those who've changed conventional business practices and encourage others to push themselves further. We'll explore how optimism, perseverance, and the willingness to embrace change can really lead to monumental success. Before we get into those stories, let me share just a little bit about myself and why this podcast is so important to me. My entrepreneurial journey started while I was in college at University of Michigan, where I created my first company. I imported thousands of roses from Miami to sell to students on Valentine's Day, which I thought was just a brilliant idea. It actually turned out to be really not the huge success I had hoped for, but I learned a ton and really got my first taste of being an entrepreneur. I actually started my real career in investment banking. You know, while I valued that experience, I realized that my real true passion was in building companies. And over the years, I have founded and led several startups. These ventures have taught me both invaluable lessons about innovation, resilience, and also the power of really creating an amazing strong team. In two thousand and six, I co founded pay simple, which PaySimple was a SaaS solution focused on helping service SMBs, build, collect, manage, and ultimately grow their business. Really great platform. But behind, you know, the success of the platform, the real vision at the time was to create something really create a platform that was truly focused on simplifying and power the lives of small business owners. I believe we did that by creating this platform that ultimately grew from pure startup to a company that today has ever commerce will generate almost seven hundred million dollars in revenue and has approximately twenty five hundred employees globally. The road was far from easy, and we learned to adapt quickly. But it was through those experience that I truly understand what it means to be a business underdog. Today as CEO of EverCommerce, which we took public in July of two thousand twenty one, we have over seven hundred thousand small business customers that helped to make us successful. I wanna celebrate their success. I'm passionate about growth, both personally and professionally, using the platform of business to grow as human beings and people. We are only one energy. We all talk about this all the time. So just be you. Being you allows you to bring all of that, you know, knowledge and experience and growth to the table in a truly authentic form. I believe that by sharing our stories, the triumphs and the trials, we can inspire and empower each other as well as the next generation of entrepreneurs. So why should you tune in to business underdog if that wasn't even enough?
